Guess what’s around the corner …. The Super Bowl. This Sunday, February 7th, one of the most exciting sport event of the year will take place!
It is a time to meet with your friends, share a bucket of wings in front of the TV. For some, it is all about sports and the game and for others it is also the yearly event of the some of most famous commercials!
It is always during the Super Bowl that brands take the show to another level. The new viral commercials start there and then. For a long time, it was the big brands’ monopoly because it is very expensive: a 30 seconds spot will cost you around $5 million.
Entrepreneurs know that it is a tremendous opportunity for visibility and top-of-the-mind awareness as more than 111 million people watch it every year.
However, being aired during the Super Bowl doesn’t necessary mean a good visibility. We saw that with last year’s example shown by Volvo. It used its competitors’ investments in their commercials, to launch a social media contest. Basically every time a car commercial was aired during the game, people could tweet #VolvoContest, to win a Volvo car. (Learn more here)
