Wouldn’t it be wonderful if one of the 2,000 start-ups that were exhibiting at Web Summit had invented a way to slow down time? I wish I could have talked with many more entrepreneurs there: their passion, their commitment to their product and their intelligence were so inspiring! Here are some of the great people I have met at Web Summit.
I get why this was the largest European tech event. Of the 2,085 start-ups that exhibited over three days:
- 455 (22%) are from the UK
- 144 are French
- 143 are German
- 125 are Irish
- 105 are Dutch
Let me introduce you to some of the awesome people I have met there!
Alejandro and Alvaro, co-founders of SkyAlert
Their solution is spread all over Mexico: if there is an earthquake coming, this app lets you know as soon as it is detected. Alvaro and Alejandro will surely bring Sky Alert to all the places that need it most!
George, Founder of Vanderbox
Through his mobile app development company Vanderbox, George has developed a very successful app. Sex.Only (are you really going to ask him what this is about? ;-) ) is free of use and the premium version is free for women.
The concept was developed in Greece, but after only 3 months of existence it already has tens of thousands of users all around the world!
Thaynan, founder of IdeiaLabs
In the field of connected objects, I got really fond of IdeiaLabs and its smart lightbulb that changes colors depending on your mood! Thaynan came straight from Brazil to show it around.
Angela, founder of Amvigo
Angela is from the UK and not only is she very friendly, she also helps solo travellers find friendly people to travel with! Amvigo is a social network that lets you see which members are doing the same trip at the same time as you.
Michele and Lorenzo, Mink
With a creative factory based in Italy, Mink lets you design your own product online. Your design is manufactured and sent to you!
Yeshaya, co-founder of Roadwarez
It’s pretty sweet to think that you can rely on a vest to be safe! With a Roadwarez smart vest, you can be located via GPS, measure your biometrics, record your ride and know where your friends are. Yeshaya and his partner are based in New York.
Sungpil and Roger, co-founders of Ani Fit
I guess I’m not the only one who tried to steal their adorable teddy dog! Ani fit is a fitness tracker that helps monitor your pet’s health. Sungpil and Roger came all the way from South Korea to exhibit at Web Summit!
